FOCUSED SONGS

PREFACE:  This songbook is dedicated for the use of all Christians who are called to be like the sons of Zadok (Ezekiel chapter 44) to minister to the Lord rather than to the house.

These songs are not intended to convict anyone of sin or be an encouragement to other Christians, but to minister to the Lord.

I have merely taken songs I know and arranged them so that they are directed, or focused, to the Lord personally.  In James' epistle we are encouraged to "... draw near to God and He will draw near to you."  I find it much easier to do so with a song focused on the Lord, and very difficult to do so with a song which is directed to other people.  For example, "He is Lord" is really a confessional song directed to other people.  By changing it to "You are Lord" it becomes a vehicle for ministering to the Lord.  By the way, try singing this song (You are Lord) while kneeling.  It is written that "every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:10, 11).  Let's start now to literally fulfill this verse and glorify God the Father through our Lord Jesus.

May His name be forever praised, and may the present-day "sons of Zadok" be equipped to faithfully minister to the Lord.

    1. A mighty fortress art Thou, Lord; a bulwark never failing.
    Our shelter, You, amid the flood of mortal ills, prevailing.

    Yet still our ancient foe does seek to work us woe.
    His craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate,
    on earth is not his equal.

    2. Did we on our own strength confide, our striving would be losing.
    Were not the Right Man on our side, that Man of Your own choosing.

    We know who that might be, Christ Jesus, it is Thee.
    Lord Sabaoth Your name, from age to age the same,
    and You must win the battle.

    3. And though this world with devils filled should threaten to undo us,
    we will not fear for You have willed Your truth to triumph through us.

    The prince of darkness grim - we tremble not for him!
    His rage we can endure; for, lo, his doom is sure.
    One little word shall fell him.

    4. Your Word above all earthly powers no thanks to them abideth.
    Your Spirit and Your gifts are ours through You who with us sideth.

    Let goods and kindred go.  This mortal life also.
    The body they may kill, Your truth abideth still.
    Your Kingdom is forever!

2.    ALL OVER THE WORLD [A]
    1.  All over the world Your Spirit is moving;
    All over the world, like the prophets said it would be.

    of Your glory, O Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

    2.  Down deep in my heart Your Spirit is moving;
    down deep in my heart, like the prophets said it would be.
    Down deep in my heart there's a mighty restoration
    of Your glory, O Lord, like the waters cover the sea.

    So let the wicked perish, O Lord.
